Golf Course Overview
The Ring of Kerry Golf Course
The architectural brief to Eddie Hackett was simple - ‘Design a world class golf course’
Visionary in its construction, this PGA standard Championship course was the final project of Eddie Hackett, one of Ireland’s greatest golf course architects.
The heathland topography of the site and its sand-based construction harness the finest elements of modern
Golf course design.
The USGA Standard Bent Grass greens added to the original layout by Ron Kirby (formerly of Jack Nicklaus Design) are widely acknowledged as some of the finest putting surfaces in Ireland.
The course has been continuously developed and has matured over the last two decades, creating completely individual playing characteristics that cannot be found elsewhere in Irish golf.
Measuring 6663 yards from the back tees, the course tightly clings to the natural contours of over 150 acres of rolling Kerry hillside, with panoramic vistas of Kenmare Bay and The Atlantic Ocean from every tip.
The lower tees towards the coast offers the player a characteristically parkland golf environment.
Generous sand-based fairways and firm greens also introduce some links golf attributes to the play.
Above the club house, the back nine holes reveals the finest elements of Irish heathland golf, with an abundance of indigenous wildlife and flora.
The par is seventy-three, offering a true test from the back tees for the lower handicap player.
The various tee options available ensure that The Ring Of Kerry offers the most enjoyable round
for players of all golfing abilities.
The driving range is available at all times to guests and members.
